Hartz Homes Start Sales for Whisper Creek Duplexes in Mokena


Woodridge Illinois-based Hartz Homes has announced the grand opening of Whisper Creek, a new community of 32 maintenance-free, luxury duplexes in the southwest suburb of Mokena.

“Our sales across the board at Hartz have been up compared to last year, and we’re seeing increased demand in well-located southern suburbs like Mokena for new-construction homes at an outstanding value,” said Leigh Nevers, director of sales and marketing for Hartz Homes.



Whisper Creek offers two ranch floor plans ranging from 2,050 to 2,145 square feet. All homes include a full basement, two bedrooms, two baths, den, fireplace, brick exteriors, two-car garage and a decorative 9-foot or volume ceilings, per plan. Eat-in kitchens come with stainless steel appliances, hardwood flooring, granite countertops, 36-inch cabinets and a preparation island. Home prices begin in the high $200’s.

Buyers can tour models of both available floor plans – the Asbury II and the Barclay II.
Priced from $293,900, the Asbury II features a den and guest suite near the home’s foyer and then leads into a combined living/dining room, which is at the center of the home.

To one side of the living/dining room is the master suite complete with its own art niche entrance. While the master bedroom comes with a tray ceiling, walk-in closet and double door closet, the master bath has a dual-bowl vanity, linen closet, water closet, and separate shower and soaking tub.

The living and dining room also opens into three other living areas – the kitchen, family room and a sunroom with a cathedral ceiling. Viewable from the family room, kitchen and living/dining is a three-sided fireplace.

“Based on feedback from other Hartz plans, we think buyers are really going to respond well to the Asbury II because the living/dining room braches off into other rooms, almost like spokes in a wheel,” said Nevers. “It’s a smart design that works with natural traffic patterns to how people use their home.”

Nevers noted that the sunroom, which opens onto a patio, has some advantages over other sunrooms. “With a whole wall of glass looking onto the backyard, the sunroom lets in plenty of light and feels like its own space, yet it’s still open to the family room and living/dining room,” she said. “And because not all the walls are made of windows, this means the room is very-well insulated so the room temperature is comfortable all year long –it’s not super hot in the summer or cold in the winter.”

A laundry room, walk-in pantry and powder room are in a small hallway connecting the kitchen to the foyer. The laundry room, which has a storage closet, laundry tub and countertop space for folding clothes, also opens into the home’s front-loading two-car garage.

Also available for viewing is the Barclay II floor plan, which is priced from $296,900. This home has a side-loading, two-car garage and a center entrance.

To one side of the home’s foyer is a den with double doors, a coat closet, power room, laundry room and a guest suite with a walk-in closet and private bath. On the opposite side of the foyer is an open dining room and great room, which includes a fireplace. This space then leads into the kitchen and keeping room with access to a patio.

Off of the kitchen is the master suite, which features a tray ceiling, his and her walk-in closets, and a master bath with his and her vanities, a linen closet, water closet, and separate shower and soaking tub.

“Both models showcase a split floor plan with the bedrooms at opposite ends of the home,” said Nevers. “This allows homeowners and their guests to have maximum privacy. It also works well if you have a roommate.”

The Whisper Creek duplexes mark the first phase of development in the community from Hartz Homes, which also eventually include detached single-family homes. Ten of the duplexes back up to a community pond.

Residents of Whisper Creek will enjoy its location with close proximity to the Mokena Metra station, Interstates 80 and 355, as well as easy access to area shopping and dining.
