Mokena Offers Holiday Fun for Everyone

The holiday season is upon us!  That means there are plenty of events and activities going on in Mokena to celebrate this December.  Read further to find out how you can participate.

December 2nd Letters from Santa
The Mokena Park District has once again made special arrangements with for children to receive a personalized letter from the North Pole.  Your child will be delighted when they see a colorful envelope in the mailbox, addressed to them, from the Jolly Old Elf along with a special treat to leave for the reindeer on Christmas Eve.  Parents or guardians can register for their child/children in person at the Park Office, 10925 W La Porte Rd by December 1, 2014.  Fee is $6 per letter.  Letters will be mailed the week of December 8, 2014.

December 12th Holiday House Decorating
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  Don’t miss out and enter your residence in this annual free contest to win great prizes!  To enter, call the Park Office at 708-390-2401 by Monday, December 8.  Judging will take place between 6:30-9:30p.m. on December 12 & 13.  Contestants do not need to be present during judging.  Displays must be lit during the stated hours.  Winners will be notified by phone the week of December 15.  Please, no decorations by professionals.


December 13th Holiday Open House at An English Garden
Be sure and stop by the open house at An English Garden for some food and mingling! This lovely florist shop is located at 11210 Front Street in Mokena. There will be taste samplings of new dips and desserts.  Free photos with Santa will be available from 11am to 1pm by Jean Lachat Photography.  There will also be plenty of American made candles, signs, garden statues and much more.  And of course there will be beautiful fresh flowers and flower arrangements!
